Application for a residence permit
It is necessary to apply to the prefecture for a residence permit for stays longer than three months:
 the EURAXESS Services Centre of Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon/Agropolis International will provideassistance on this formality.
Insurance
Check whether your host establishment provides obligatory health coverage and civil liability insurance or whether you must take out personal insurance.

Types of apartments
. 'Studio' apartment: one room with a kitchenette and a bathroom.
. 'F1', 'F2', 'F3' (or 'T1', 'T2', etc. or 'P1', 'P2', etc.): the number is for the number of rooms in addition to the kitchen and bathroom. For example, an 'F3' apartment has a living room and two bedrooms.
  Include the following in your accommodation budget:
. deposit (the equivalent of one or two months rent)
. estate agent's fees
. insurance (obligatory!)
. taxes : local council tax is obligatory for all tenants renting a flat or house on the 1rst of January.
