INRA's stand will present activities concerning its research on water, a vital resource. It will also be a venue for professional meetings and detailed information will be available on job offers and recruitment at INRA.

CIRAD at the 48th Paris International Agricultural Show. Feb. 25 - March 4, 2012. Paris, France

CIRAD will be at the 48th Paris International Agricultural Show with a stand on "Animal production, at the heart of global issues". On the stand, CIRAD will have an exhibit on "Animal production for development", including a zebu, two aquariums, tsetse flies, ticks and other animal disease vectors. It will offer also a tasting station with various animal products (dried bushmeat, smoked tilapia, camel's milk, buffalo milk cheese, etc). Coffee-talks, mini-conference-debates for the general public will be organized every morning and live broadcasted on CIRAD website

A new website for the research unit Recycling and Risk

The overall objective of the research conducted within the unit is to provide solutions to recycle organic materials and waste (manure, biosolids from the treatment of wastewater, effluents of agro-industry, green waste and household waste) by agricultural practices within controlled agro-environmental risks.

2012 «Agropolis Fondation - Cariplo » Joint Call for Proposals is open

The first collaboration of its kind between the Milan-based Fondazione Cariplo and the Montpellier-based Agropolis Fondation, the FIRST Initiative (short for French-Italian Rice Science and Technology) is aimed at developing and supporting scientific research in the agri-food sector as well as in facilitating the emergence of excellent, innovative and potentially high-impact research on rice. Creation of a new expertise cluster aimed at controlling infectious diseases: National Centre of Expertise for Vectors (CNEV)

The CNEV has been established for an initial five-year period, under the authority of the Ministries of Health and of Agriculture, in liaison with the Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l'alimentation, de l'environnement et du travail (ANSES). It is a multidisciplinary structure, and has been set the task, with a view to providing decision support, of rapidly and efficiently mobilizing the available French expertise and skills in terms of medical and veterinary entomology, vector control, and the human and social sciences applied to public health. The CNEV associates a large number of French research organizations and operational surveillance and control structures involved in disease vector control.

In the context of the G20 conference held in Montpellier, the CGIAR Consortium has signed with the French government the agreement establishing its statute of International Organization

In the context of the G20 conference held in Montpellier on September 12-13, 2011, the French Minister of Cooperation has signed, together with the Hungarian Ambassador in Paris, the Agreement establishing the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers as an International Organization. The CGIAR consortium has also signed a declaration of intent with the research institutions involved in the French Commission for international agricultural research (CIRAD, INRA, IRD, Cemagref, Agreenium) which aims to ensure more effective coordination of the efforts made by the different organizations concerned in terms of research and partnerships.

ARIMNet joint call for transnational research proposals (Agricultural Research In the Mediterranean Network)

Several Montpellier's research units are associated to the new European project EDENext (2011-2014 – 7ème PCRDT) "Biology and control of vector-borne infections in Europe". World Veterinary Year 2011

New project: European Network of Innovation and Technology in the Agricultural and Food Sectors (RED-ITAA project)

Agropolis International participates with the regional federation of agricultural cooperation (Fédération régionale de la Coopération Agricole - FRCA-LR) to the European project RED-ITAA (European Network of Innovation and Technology in the Agricultural and Food Sectors ). Creation of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)

During a plenary meeting held on December 21, 2010 in New-York, the United Nations 65th General Assembly (UNGA) approved the creation of an Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). The new body will bridge the gulf between the wealth of scientific knowledge on the accelerating declines and degradation of the natural world, with knowledge on effective solutions and decisive government action required to reverse these damaging trends.

BiodivERsA is a network composed of national organisations funding or managing research programmes on biodiversity across Europe. The objectives of this ERA-Net are to promote the cooperation between funding agencies in the field of biodiversity research and to coordinate research programmes at strategic and management levels to eventually develop and implement joint activities. The call will address the following themes, across all ecosystems and organisms: a) Relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem services; b) Valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services (monetary and non monetary), and better incorporation of biodiversity and ecosystem services into society and policy.
