The European Union's NIPN (National Information Platforms for Nutrition) initiative, supported by the United Kingdom Department for International Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation started in 9 countries

The European Union's NIPN (National Information Platforms for Nutrition) initiative, supported by the United Kingdom Department for International Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation started in 9 countries The Global Support Facility (GSF) of the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NIPN) initiative, managed by Agrinatura (European alliance on agricultural knowledge for development) and hosted by Agropolis International, is currently working with national institutions in ten countries to help them adapt the NIPN approach to their context.

After a wide-ranging consultation phase followed by the development of a project proposal in 2016 and 2017, most of the countries participating in the initiative start their activities in 2018, usually within the framework of a four-year project. After Guatemala and Niger in 2017, seven other countries are ready to start operations in early 2018: Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Laos and Uganda.

The GSF is also supporting the design of a platform in Zambia, where the project is expected to start by the end of the year.
