Patrick Caron has been selected as one of 30 international scientific experts advising the United Nations 2021 Food Systems Summit Patrick Caron, vice-president of the University of Montpellier and president of Agropolis International, has been selected by the United Nations to sit on the independent Scientific Group of international experts to provide strategic guidance on the development of the 2021 Food Systems Summit. The goal of the summit – a cornerstone in the Decade of Action to achieve the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goals (SDGs) – is to raise public awareness of food systems challenges, to build a global conversation on the way food is produced, processed and consumed, and to galvanize actions and commitments that aim to change our food systems.

The mission of the Scientific Group, chaired by Joachim von Braun, a professor at Bonn University, will be to share expertise and the latest scientific evidence to help expand the base of knowledge about experiential approaches and tools that can contribute to implementing sustainable food systems.
