Photo Exhibition
European food cultures: lives, flavours and horizons

“Tell me what you eat and I’ll tell you who you are” : despite human mobility, interbreeding and globalization, foods continue to define cultural diversities in societies and persons which have always a need of membership feeling and to be bound with a place in the world.

 

This call is addressed to professional and amateur photographers. Photos must be related to different aspects of the European food cultures. What we eat, landscape diversity, vegetal and animal species, gastronomy and culinary preparations, the “savoir-faire” and the jobs of women and men … are part of a set that we wish to show through this photo exhibition.

A jury will select the pictures with the aim to organise an exposition tour in different European countries. The exhibition opening will held in Parma (Italy) in occasion of the International EAAE-SYAL Seminar “Spatial Dynamics in Agrifood Systems: implication of sustainability and consumer welfare”, 27-30 October 2010.

The photos can be presented in black and white or in colour. Maximum three photos per authors are accepted. Each picture will have to be sent with a brief description where the geographical place must be indicated. The picture format will be 30x40. Digital photos can be sent via internet; photo films must be developed on photo paper.

The photo receiving is open up to 30th June 2010.

The authors remain owners of their photos, they give the right to the ERG (European Research Group) Syal for presenting the photos in the frame of the exhibitions “European food cultures: lives, flavours and horizons” without any copyright receipts. The organizer (ERG Syal) undertakes not to diffuse the photos out of the exhibitions “European food cultures: lives, flavours and horizons
