Recruitment of Master and Doctoral Candidates in Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, Tongji University, PR China

In 2012, IESD will keep running the following programs: Master and doctoral programs in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development, International Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering,in Environmental Laws, in International Politics and Environmental Governance, in Green Environment and Energy Economics. To promote and encourage excellence in higher education in developing countries, Tongji University will provide limited scholarships (deadline for application is mid-March)

A new website for the research unit Recycling and Risk

The overall objective of the research conducted within the unit is to provide solutions to recycle organic materials and waste (manure, biosolids from the treatment of wastewater, effluents of agro-industry, green waste and household waste) by agricultural practices within controlled agro-environmental risks.

2012 «Agropolis Fondation - Cariplo » Joint Call for Proposals is open

The first collaboration of its kind between the Milan-based Fondazione Cariplo and the Montpellier-based Agropolis Fondation, the FIRST Initiative (short for French-Italian Rice Science and Technology) is aimed at developing and supporting scientific research in the agri-food sector as well as in facilitating the emergence of excellent, innovative and potentially high-impact research on rice.

The PROCISUR program associates several agricultural centers: INTA (Argentina), INIAF (Bolivia),EMBRAPA (Brazil),INIA (Chile),DIA (Paraguay),INIA (Uruguay). In the context of the Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2010 between Agropolis International and PROCISUR, a PROCISUR delegation will come to Montpellier in order to study scientific collaborations on water resources, prospective studies, innovation in agro-industry.

Cooperation with INTA Argentina

Agropolis International welcomed on October 25-26, 2011 a delegation of INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria, Argentina) led by its President, Carlos Horacio Casamiquela. The objective of this visit was to reinforce cooperations between Argentina and the national scientific community by the creation in Montpellier of a Labintex (an "external laboratory without walls"), on the model of the LabEx Embrapa.

Visit of a delegation of agrofood companies from Valparaiso, Chile. Nov.28, 2011

In the context of the “Project Management Program-Gore Valparaiso” with the Regional Government of Valparaiso managed by the International Cooperation Agency of Chile, AGCI y supported by the European Union, a delegation of 12 business managers from the agrofood sector came to Agropolis International on Nov.28, 2011.

6th World Water Forum. March 12-17, 2012. Marseille, France

The World Water ir organized every three years since 1997. The organisers of the 6th World Water Forum have a major ambition: build on the extensive discussions around the issues, the problems and the recommendations of previous Fora and other international meetings in order to develop and to trigger the actual implementation of concrete solutions. In the context of the World Water Forum, the SICMED program (initiative aiming at a better understanding of the Mediterranean anthropo-ecosystems and their evolutions), VerSeau Développement and Agropolis International, will organize an international conference in Montpellier on March 7-8, 2012. PhD course on International Forestry and Global Issues. April 16-20, 2012. Champenoux, France

"Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique" (INRA), AgroParisTech and the European Forest Institute (EFI), represented by its Central European Regional Office and the Observatory for European Forests (EFICENT-OEF), will conduct their 2nd PhD course on “International Forestry and Global Issues" from April 16th to 20th, 2012 in Champenoux, France. The course will address a wide range of forest issues, topics which rank high on the international and national forest and environmental research and policy agendas.

The 8th congress of the French Phytopathological Society (Société Française de Phytopathologie, SFP) will take place in Paris in 2012 at AgroParisTech (Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences). The data presented will concern different aspects of plant disease including plant disease control methods.
