Organized by 'IRD with the support of Agropolis International, in partnership with the scientific community.
The objective of the congress is to question the history of human-induced changes for a better understanding of the components and dynamics of current global biodiversity. Congress participants would be encouraged to focus on their understanding of past human activities as a means to develop more sustainable patterns of natural resource management in the near future. More than 450 abstracts have been received and are currently under reviewing. Around 500 to 600 participants are expected.
The aim of this event is to present the findings of the scientific community in this field; it is also an opportunity for a close interaction between researchers and the representatives of the local communities. The organizing committee is an interdisciplinary team (including geneticians, anthropologists, ecologists and geographers) and an interinstitutional team (Cirad, Cnrs, IRD, University of Montpellier 2). Around 500 scientists are expected to attend this event.
