French courses for guest-scientists
Set up by the European Commission in 2004, the Mobility Centres (renamed Euraxess Services Centres in 2008) are labelised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The Euraxess Languedoc-Roussillon center, managed by Agropolis International, offers numerous services.
EURAXESS Services Centre of Montpellier Languedoc Roussillon organises French courses for PhD students and researchers hosted in Montpellier higher education institutions and research centres.
French courses are offered to: PhD students, post-docs, researchers and
professors registered as «Guest-researchers» who stay over 3
months in
Montpellier. These courses get financial support from Euraxess centre in LR.
N.B. : Master students applications
will be accepted if there are vacancies. (write "MASTER" in the
column for
FnAK number).

FINANCIAL COST
100 euros to be paid to IAM.M*, after confirmation of your registration or after placement test.
The course may be paid by the host lab (order to be sent to IAM.M - contact for payment: cfle@iamm.fr)
LEVELS AVAILABLE
A) BEGINNER: for complete beginners
B) ELEMENTARY: for false beginners
C) INTERMEDIATE: for persons who have already attended French courses (20 to 50 hours)
D) ADVANCED 1: for persons who have already attended French courses (50 to
80hours)
E) ADVANCED 2: for persons who have already attended French courses (more
than 80 hours)
N.B. : Spouses can apply.
SCHEDULE:
from 23rd January to 30th March 2012
Evening courses: 5.30 to 7.30
p.m (2 hours per week over 10 weeks)
NEXT SESSION: October to December 2012
* PRE-ENROLMENT AND PLACEMENT TESTS:
Schedule for pre-enrollment meetings and placement tests (at IAMM*, room 21)
1) Beginners: meeting on MONDAY 16th January - 9.30 am
2) For persons who are not "beginners" and have never registered in these
courses, PLACEMENT TEST is compulsory : on MONDAY 16th January - 10 am to 12
am (test starts at 10 am sharp)
3) NO PLACEMENT TEST for persons who have attended a previous session at
IAMM French Centre: after on line pre-enrolment (compulsory) candidates will
go to next level.
All pre-enrolled candidates will get a confirmation message AFTER 16th January 2012, indicating their level and the day of their course.
*Address for appointments and placement tests at IAMM : Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen, Salle 21, Bâtiment B, 3191 roue de Mende - Montpellier. Bus : La Navette Agropolis (get off at : Lycée F. Bazille)
TRAINING:
The training is based on three main lines : oral and written daily communication (beginners and elementary levels), scientific French and improvement of written language (intermediate, average and advanced levels).
In addition: personal work and access to the language laboratory.

BUS: At stop "Université", take Navette Agropolis via Plan des 4 Seigneurs, get off at stop "Lycée F. Bazille" (walk down route de Mende for a few minutes, then cross the road).
