Issue realized with the partnership and support of INTA and EMBRAPA.

This issue of Agropolis International Dossier is a report on the presentations and discussions which took place during the seminar “Research, development and innovation for the Family Farming in the South” (4th June 2014, Montpellier-France), organized by Labex-Europe of EMBRAPA, Labintex of INTA and Agropolis International.

This seminar has been organized in parallel with the International Encounters held between 1st and 3rd June 2014 in Montpellier; it allowed the participants to interchange over the challenges faced by research for the family farming in Argentina and Brazil and consider future lines for research and cooperation performed between Agropolis International, Labex-Europe of EMBRAPA, Labintex of INTA and the French research institutions.

Agropolis International and the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuária (Argentina), have signed a partnership agreement in March 2012 aiming at the setting up of a LABINTEX Virtual Laboratories of INTA, in Montpellier, set along the lines of the Brazilian Embrapa’s LABEX Europe which was established in 2002.

Agropolis International provides technical, scientific and logistical support for the feasibility of this original partnership.

 

 

Jorge Perez Peña, INTA (Mendoza) researcher (CV), has been appointed Coordinator of LABINTEX. He succeeds Daniel Horacio Rearte.

 

LABINTEX objectives

« The LABINTEX programme of INTA in France is a strategic action because it allows Argentina to be positioned on cutting-edge research by cooperating with European partners”, Carlos Casamiquela (INTA Chair in 2012)
LABINTEX implementation, supported by the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB), aims at :

  • Leading advanced research to create innovations

  • Identifying and develop scientific cooperation by establishing innovation networks between organizations in Argentina, in France and in other European countries

  • Increasing competitiveness and sustainability in Argentina’s agricultural production.

Visit of INTA delegation at Agropolis International and first exchanges on the subject

Another mission to Montpellier of an extended INTA delegation headed by its Chair Carlos Casamiquela; they visited research units and met representatives of several institutions: Agropolis International, CIRAD, IRD, Montpellier SupAgro, Inra Montpellier, USDA and Embrapa’s LABEX Europe. The visit ended with further meetings in Paris with the executive directors of Inra and Cirad.

This meeting organized by the Argentinian National Institute for Agricultural Technology (INTA) with the support of the French Embassy in Buenos Aires, aims at, on the one hand, showing the rich history of the cooperation developed between both countries in the scientific and technological domain, and on the other hand, evaluating the future perspectives for the inter-institutional cooperation.

This seminar is an event organized by Labex-Europe of EMBRAPA, Labintex of INTA and Agropolis International, in parallel with the International Encounters “Family Agriculture and Research”, held on June 1-3rd 2014, Montpellier.
To interchange the vision of Family Farming (AF) in Brazil and Argentina, share actions performed by our Institutions and consider future lines of research and cooperation between our countries and French research institutions.
