Organization and structuring of the national agricultural research
  • Competitiveness clusters
  • Agreenium

PRES UMSF

From 2000, the French ministry for agriculture (Ministère de l’Agriculture, de l’Alimentation, de la Pêche, de la Ruralité et de l'Aménagement du territoire -MAAPRAT) has launched a reorganization of the agricultural higher education and research system in life and environmental sciences and technologies through the creation of regional clusters.

MAAPRAT has labelled 7 national competitiveness clusters. They are scientific clusters where agricultural higher education and research centers fit into a multi-institutional and interdisciplinary environment. Montpellier is one of these 7 competence clusters and Agropolis International is the overarching structure of this cluster.

AGREENIUM

The national consortium Agreenium (Consortium national pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation, la santé animale et l'environnement) is one of the world’s largest agricultural and veterinary research and education organisations. It was founded by six of France’s major research and teaching organisations with the shared goal of strengthening the links between higher education and research, and highlighting this work on both a national and international scale. Agreenium’s founding members are INRA, CIRAD, AgroParisTech, Montpellier Supagro, Agrocampus Ouest and the National Veterinary School of Toulouse, and bring together significant human resources, research and teaching facilities and partnerships
