Exploring Montpellier and the region

Montpellier, the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, is the 8th-largest city in France and has a population of 230,000.
Renowned for its medical faculty for eight centuries, Montpellier is now a high-tech centre with numerous specialisations such as tropical and Mediterranean agriculture, health, the environment and information technology.

In the South of France, within easy reach of Paris (1 hour 10 min by air and 3 hours 15 min by TGV high-speed train), Montpellier is an ideal centre for visiting an extremely varied region with a succession of sea, mountains, garrigue and vineyards.
