ARCUS final scientific seminar
October 7th 2010, Shanghai, China

arcus final seminarReview of the final scientific seminar on ARCUS Project (2007-2010), a project dedicated to French-Chinese cooperation on sustainable development issues.

The final scientific seminar of the ARCUS Project was held on October 7th, 2010, at the Auditorium of the French Pavilion at the World Expo 2010, in Shanghai (China).

This cooperation project involved scientists from Shanghai (*) and French organisations (**); it was co-funded by the MAEE and the LR Regional Government up to 500 000 euros and has been coordinated by Agropolis International for 4 years (2007-2010). It included 12 innovative research actions organised in 3 thematic lines: sustainable water management, energy and waste, ecology and eco-agriculture. In addition, cross-actions dealing with training and technology transfer have also been implemented.

ARCUS Project resulted in more than 150 French-Chinese communications and publications, 10 doctoral thesis, the supervision of 30 trainees, 90 cross-missions.

A symbol of the interaction between regional and local levels, ARCUS Project acted as a gateway leading to scientific, training and economic exchanges between the 2 countries. More French-Chinese cooperation actions are under preparation to continue the project, particularly on water management issues.
