Abstract

In a region of the Nile Delta, it is a fact that there are various farming systems because of their structure (cultivated area, family ...) and because of the impact of the central policy of the state on the farmers’ working (controled cropping rotation ; water use management, imputs and cotton and rice trading). A chronological table of rural development is built with a parallel between the evolution of the farming systems and the agricultural policy, since Egypt’s integration to the world market. That study points out that the breeding strategies have been privi- ledged by the farmers and after all, it makes up the keystone of their reproducing. That sould be taken into account for development activities.
